Social and Cultural aspects of type 1 Diabetes in Youth (SCAD):
We are currently partnering with Drs. Jennifer Raymond at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Alexandra Main in Developmental Psychology at UC Merced to examine how sociocultural aspects of the neighborhoods where adolescents live (e.g., family income; home ownership; education levels; ethnic density) are related to HbA1c trajectories across childhood and adolescence. We are gathering medical information from electronic medical records over time, and linking these to detailed census data of the communities where children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes live.
